3D Visualization

A. Minimal

  1. Function value (f) versus coordinates (X,Y) in arbitrary plane.
  2. Overlay "3-D" plot of 1 variable (f(x,y)) with color palette from another variable.
  3. Isosurfaces in toroidal geometry.
  4. Vector plots in toroidal geometry.
  5. Field lines (flux tubes?) in 3-D toroidal geometry.

B. Advanced

  1. Overlay vectors on isosurfaces.
  2. Color isosurfaces with palette from another variable.
  3. Nested isosurfaces, with control over transparency.
  4. 3-D vector plots, showing toroidal geometry.
  5. Incorporate 2-D plots into 3-D view.
  6. Interactively rotate all of the above interactively.

  7.

General Requirements (For all viewing types)

  1. Ability to zoom easily.
  2. Ability to show the data points easily.
  3. Ability to interactively put labels on plots.
  4. Ability to perform interactive calculations and plot the result (eg, p+B**2/2, or p/B**2).
  5. Export plots to common file formats (pdf, jpeg, etc.)
  6. Ability to control aspect ratio (scaling of individual axes) of all plots.

  7.
