1.a. MDSplus/Globus packaging enhancements
Enhancements will be added to the MDSplus/Globus build procedure which will enable us to provide more installation options to the user. The installation procedures should enable the user to easily install and configure various types of data services including username@host based authentication/authorization and GSI authentication/authorization.
The build procedure will be modified to create data server programs and libraries which can be used for either GSI enforced communications or straight tcpip communication (for use between trusted hosts behind firewalls).(3 weeks) 2Q04
The MDSplus build configuration procedure (configure) will also be modified so that it is configurable for selecting the Globus version and flavor to use for the build. (2 weeks) 3Q04
Provide support for the development and maintenance of the FusionGrid installation kits. This would include modification, as needed, to the base MDSplus configuration and kit building procedures to facilitate the creation of a FusionGrid kit. (6 weeks/year)
Provide MDSplus with Globus support on additional platforms including Windows. (4 weeks) 3Q05
MDSplus updates as needed due to changes in Globus Toolkit API's (4 weeks/year)
2.h. MDSplus data access
No plans to change from local account mapping.
5.a. Parallel Data Transfer
Modify MDSplus network I/O to use Globus XIO. This will enable clients and servers to use parallel data transfer on high latency, high bandwidth network connections. (4 weeks) 2Q04
Modify MDSplus to use large buffer sizes when transferring data to and from the MDSplus data stores. (2 weeks) 2Q04
6.a. New codes as services
Provide TORIC as a Fusion Grid service. (6 weeks/year).
7.a. Collaborative Control Room: One to many within the Control Room
7.b, 7.c Collaboration outside of the control room:
Install and test both small and large scale Access Grid technology in the control room (2 Week) Test remote shared X-Windows as in 7.a (1 Week) 4Q057.h. Browser based display of shot cycle, DAM, Logbook, etc. :
Implement browser based tools for shot cycle monitoring etc. at C-Mod (3 Weeks) Implement Web based version of the logbook (5 Weeks). 3Q06
No Number: Secure database access via mdsip: Create a secure database server based on the mdsip database implementation and the GSI enabled mdsip service on windows. Use grid credentials to authenticate and authorize database access. (2 Weeks + however long it takes to get the Windows port of globus working)
