SCIRun for Demonstration
The SCIRun part of the demonstration should do the following:
- Should illustrate both 3D and 2D plotting (2D meaning functions like y=f(x)).
- Should be collaborative in the AG framework.
- Should compare experimental data gathered on the day of the demo to a
known NIMROD run. This is very reasonable since NIMROD takes a long time to run (not
between shots) and runs will be done in preparation for an experimental day.
- The end result of the comparison or discussion is how well the experimental data
matches the NIMROD run. In reality the comparison will not be great since the two "plasmas"
are not the same - but the audience will get the message.
To prepare Allen needs to:
- Get the 2D plotting working
- Work with Scott and Dylan to get a NIMROD run that we want to try and compare.
Also, what signals or physical quantities will we want to compare.
- Work with Scott and Dylan on our demo plans and allow them to give feedback - are
there things they want changed? One concern I think they will have is that if the NIMROD
comparison is way off they may think people will take that message home. In the demo
we need to make sure that people understand the nature of our demo so they do not take
home that impression.
- I would like the NIMROD data read from the new NERSC MDSplus server (assuming it is running). If not,
I would like the NIMROD data read from the MDSplus server at DIII-D (this is where the experimental
data will be read from).
