Prerequisites for Usage of FusionGrid
Any user of FusionGrid must have a Grid identify (DOE Grid Certificate) and two different client software packages (MDSplus and Globus). FusionGrid is designed as a single sign-on system. Using a DOE Grid certificate, a user is required to log into FusionGrid only once (authentication) for all subsequent Grid service requests (whether the request is granted depends on the users authorization). Globus is the software that handles the passing of Grid identify from the user to a FusionGrid service and therefore the Globus client software must be installed on the user's computer. MDSplus is the data system used to pass all data requests within FusionGrid and therefore the client version of MDSplus must also be installed on the user's computer. To obtain the proper authorization to utilize a FusionGrid resource the user must contact the proper local authority (see the FusionGrid services list below).
