The following first two year (out of three) working plan is a high level view that summarizes the detailed plan being followed by the two working groups.

Security & Remote Computing

  1. Year 1
    1. Building the Fusion Grid Infrastructure
      1. Provide certificate authority and Globus authentication services
      2. Necessary Globus components on Windows for SQL access
      3. Experiment combining Akenti authorization and Globus functionality
      4. Initial monitoring & refinement of Grid resource management techniques
      5. Globus deployment and training, standing up/adding resources, and general activities associated with building the Grid.
    2. Adapt fusion tools
      1. Modify MDSplus to use Globus
      2. Implement secure SQL access
      3. EFIT and TRANSP working in Grid environment with monitoring
      4. Investigate DCON/GATO/PEST and GS2 working in Grid environment

      3. Implement between-pulse grid based experimental data analysis

    1. Deploy fusion data access and visualization tools for CSET evaluation

      1. Prototype visualization techniques using NIMROD data as an example
      2. Create first draft of general visualization application
      3. Evaluate tool with other datasets and with very large datasets
    3. Initial testing with documentation to facilitate remote collaboration plan
      1. Investigate Chromium Library for wall to wall collaborative visualization
      2. Investigate VNC for workstation to wall collaboration
      3. Prototype Xplit system, desktop browser and vic windows operate on tiled display as a single desktop - Define Xplit architecture
      4. Prototype of AG sharing systems, allowing user to drag x-based application off of desktop into a shared space - Define X-windows based AG architecture
