Dear All,

Before SC we agreed on holding a small workshop to discuss technologies
specifically related to this collaboration. The format was to be a series
of talked focussed on the needs of the collaboratory followed by a
brainstorming session. I am now soliciting topics for the talks. Below is
an outline of topics and ideas that have already been brought up as being
of interest. If there are technologies, topics, "things", that you
must/need/would like to learn about technologies relevant to the
collaboratory please send me mail. If you would like to refine any of the
current topics feel free to send me mail also.

Proposed topics:

1) MDSplus: what it is, what it is not, how it works, what components it
implements (and how they work), what platforms it runs on...
2) Fusion codes/applications and mode of operation: what are the
applications and what do they do, what are their interactive requirements
(say: they write data to a remote server every timestep), how much data
they consume/produce, parallel or not, how are all of those things likely
to change (or not),...
3) Akenti: what is Akenti (from the point of view of how it could be used
in this project), how are use policies formulated, is there a
language/grammar...
4) topics in Globus (send me mail): GRAM overview (how it is currently
implemented, where are the hooks to security), I would be tempted to do an
overview of Data Grids (more with an eye on some future stuff we would want
to do)...

Send me mail, send me mail....
