yes! we have MS SQLSERVER databases with about 1G of data in them. So do GA and
PPPL.
We are committed to sticking with this underlying database. This makes option (2)
very unattractive, unless we think something which will make the final
windows/SQLSERVER implementation will be learned.

So either waiting, or some proxy scheme with sslwrap make more sense than starting
on a new platform.
